Workshops

 

Margaret Parker does workshops for all ages engaging the public in short term art projects using found or collected materials.

2014 - Light Shines Through Us, Wyandotte Art Fair, Wyandotte, MI.

A 4 day community art project invited people to weave old Art Fair T-shirts into a passageway of light to celebrate how the Wyandotte Art Fair brings art and life together. Art Fair visitors who wanted to join in were led by artist Margaret Parker and Tammy Trudelle, Director of the Downriver Council for the Arts,  The project was commissioned by the Wyandotte Art Fair and sponsored by Loews and Leo Stevenson.

2013 – Living Memory, commissioned by the Icehouse Museum, Linwood, MI.

A 4 day community project led by artist Margaret Parker filled the Icehouse Museum in Linwood, MI. The piece was commissioned to connect the community to the collection of local artifacts and establish the Icehouse Museum as a center for local history and art projects. The project was funded by a grant from the Bay Area Community Foundation.

2011 - Finlandia University, Hancock, MI.

Two day workshop for students and community members.

2011 - Manchester High School, Manchester,MI.

Four day workshop for high school students to design and built two constructions out of River Folk T-shirts to publicize the River Folk Festival events.

2008 - Time Weave, Original Ann Arbor Street Art Fair, Ann Arbor, MI.

Two 2 hour workshops for all ages during the Original Street Art Fair to assemble a collaborative piece, Time Weave, made out of Art Fair T-shirts to commemorate the 50th Anniversary of the Original Ann Arbor Street Art Fair.

Two 2 hour drop in workshops to make individual works of wearable art out of Art Fair T-shirts.

Two hour workshop for all ages to make individual wearable art out of cut up T-shirts.

2006 – Lloyd Hall Scholars, University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, MI.

A workshop for non-art degree students to create a collaborative piece using cut up T-shirts.
