DNA of Blue

An on-going participatory performance, begun in 2006.

After 9/11 I felt the urgent need to understand what it means to be human in a global age, what makes us all human? Could a map of unifying human experiences be made, like the human genome that maps individual human traits? DNA of Blue acts out that experiment by recording how people interact with 12 shapes painted in different shades of the color blue. Color is something that all people experience deeply, yet each person sees differently. By collecting separate color experiences, we might define one small unifying strand of what it means to be human in a global age.
