Escape/Return Escape/Regresso: a Participatory Installation |
| Project A tunnel made of reconstructed T-shirts from Latin American countries that viewers walk through to follow in the footsteps of those caught in the cycle of migration between Latin America and the United States. This piece involves both the Latin American and Anglo communities in the expression of an epic migration of peoples. Participation T-shirts from Latin American countries are being collected from around the country. Everyone is invited to send a T-shirt from Latin American countries or shirts that relate to immigration issues. Regular short sleeved T-shirts with no collars or cuffs, any size will do. The text from the shirts are recorded then the shirts are cut apart to be woven into the tunnel. The more shirts collected, the longer the tunnel goes. Mail T-shirts to: Margaret Parker 210 S. | PROYECTO DE ARTE: NECESITO SU AYUDA Estimados amigos de Latinoamérica: CON GRAN RESPETO Y ADMIRACION POR SU CORAJE, LES PIDO SU COLABORACION PARA UNA OBRA DE ARTE. Necesito playeras (camisetas, t-shirts) con logos , símbolos o tradiciones importantes de su país de origen para construir un túnel como el que se muestra en el dibujo adjunto. El túnel es un símbolo de los problemas que confronta el inmigrante en Estados Unidos, y a la vez un símbolo de las circunstancias que obligan a las personas a viajar a Estados Unidos, repetidas veces, en búsqueda de trabajo. Usted nos dona su camiseta y otros donarán su tiempo para cortar las playeras y construir el túnel.
